A Proud Garden in an Unusual Location
When Troy residents Brenda and her husband purchased an industrial building accommodate their contracting equipment, they made an unusual landscaping improvement. Because they did not have room at their home, they transformed the side yard of their new building from turf grass to an organic vegetable garden. It’s a small oasis in an area predominated by industrial style uses.
Brenda starts her plants from seed under grow lights at home. She has 14 different types of vegetable, including 8 varieties of tomatoes and many herbs. Their Plumber friend modified the existing underground lawn sprinklers to provide water. Her husband built a small shed for tools and supplies. Brenda spends several hours a week tending the garden and finds it therapeutic. The reward is a sea of healthy attractive plants, and fresh vegetables for her family.
